Robert Frost wrote, “For me the initial delight is in the surprise of remembering something I didn’t know I knew. I have never started a poem yet whose end I knew.”
Substitute travels for his poetry and he captured perfectly what I am discovering every day. It is those subtle surprises that define and add texture to every day of this trip. Today the colors started to change. Â For those of us west of the Sierra Nevada’s and south of the Oregon/California border, the depth of even the early colors here in the southeast can take our breath away.
And then there is Bobby Barnes. Â Making his way back to Birmingham Alabama, Bobby works at the Mercedes plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Â Work is good. Â Mercedes has added 300 new employees in the last 6 months and is looking to add 400 more. Â As much as I thought I understood about a man like Bobby, at every turn, he was a surprise.

This is a rockin night!! Bobby Barnes -I kinda like your thinking!! What this really speaks to is the fact that the more you know about people the more you can respect them and their talents. Bobby works with lots of women at Mercedes and can see how well they use both sides of their brains. He can respect their talents. That is the great hope – as we know each other we can grow our respect for each other. This applies to everything…..d
This southern gentleman and I think alike on debt. In California, we have propositions 30 and 38, both of which raise taxes. Unfortunately, they are mutually exclusive, and if they both pass, the more popular will override the other. I actually wish they could both be implemented.
Will you be voting your absentee ballot on the road?
Hey Bobby Barnes from Brimingham, you do rock!!! How about Hilary in 2016!!! It was great to get to chat with you last night Julie and share our delight with the outcome of the latest debate. Julie don’t vote absentee. When your in Washington, just take your ballet over to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and hand it to Barack.
Another great interview, Julie! So glad your trip has been full of delightful surprises! xoxo
I love this guy! Yep, we need a woman president. Gee, do you think we’ll have to get a big binder full of women to find someone qualified? Nah. Plenty of qualified women like….. Julie McDonald for President 2016! I’m getting the bumper stickers printed right now.
